November is Lung Cancer Awareness Month, and a perfect time to quit smoking.  It is also a perfect time to learn:  here are 25 things that you did not know about lung cancer.

  1.  Lung cancer is the second most common cancer in both men and women, aside from skin cancer in both, prostate cancer in men, and breast cancer in women.
  2. Lung cancer is the cancer that kills.  Each year, more people die from lung cancer than colon, breast and prostate cancers combined.
  3. Smokers are not the only ones at risk for developing lung cancer, but the risk is MUCH higher in smokers.

What is the Great American Smokeout?

The Great American Smokeout is a nation wide event sponsored by the American Cancer Society.  It has been going on for the last 37 years, on the third Thursday of November, and the goal of the event is to use the date to stop smoking.
